God is our Refuge

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." - Psalm 46:1.

Life is challenging, and troubles come up unannounced and uninvited. We are pressed down and squeezed from all sides, and think to ourselves, "when will it ever end?"

The Bible declares that Christ, (God with us) will always be there for His people whenever they call upon His name. In this psalm, the writer describes the attributes of God that offer us the strength and comfort that we need. He confesses that in times of trouble, Yahweh is a place of refuge and strength.

At those times when we feel overwhelmed and helpless, facing circumstances beyond our control, the Lord has given us this psalm. With remarkable faith, the psalmist leads us to lean fully on God, understanding that a “refuge” is a shelter of protection and “strength” represents the power God provides to endure adversity. Fear won't help, but trusting in God will.

One Love,

ree
