An Unshaken Kingdom

"But it is not to be this way with you; on the contrary, the one who is the greatest among you must become like the youngest [and least privileged], and the [one who is the] leader, like the servant. For who is the greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.” (Luke 22:26-27 AMP).

Good morning, God’s beautiful people, and welcome to the start of a new day and a brand new week. We praise and thank God for your presence this morning, and pray that all is well with you and your family.

We are all called to be God’s servants, and we must recognize that as the Lord, Jesus Christ believed in service, so should we. The world defines greatness as one who holds authority over another. It’s one of position and power, rank and dominion, and money and possessions. He wants to be known and recognized for what he has.

The disciples were sitting at the table with the Greatest who ever walked on this earth, yet they sat arguing with one another about who among them will be the greatest Their minds were focused on the temporary things of this world and they were jockeying for position, and missed the entire meaning of the teachings of Jesus. They walked with Him for three years, yet they failed to see that He was on a mission of service.

If we are to walk with the Lord, we must be faithful and fixed on eternity. We must have a humble heart look to serve those who are in need, instead of trying to be the top dog among people. Greatness comes from God, and it is in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Father thank You for giving us a humble heart and spirit. As we go out, let us go and serve others with a mind that is set upon Your kingdom. It’s in the name of Jesus that we pray. Amen.
