"Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon." (Matt. 15:22 NRSV).
Some people after reading the passages that concerned the Canaanite woman and Jesus, come to a level of understanding that He was being harsh in His treatment of her. Here a woman has come to Him pouring out her heart, yet He seem to be cold towards her.
That is what the natural man believes, but for those who are spiritual knows that in order for the Lord to meet our needs we must come from the heart. He was not harsh against her, but He is harsh against sin, so Jesus was not rejecting her because He would never turn a desperate person down who genuinely seeks Him. She may have not thought highly of Him before sickness hit her family, but once it did she knew in her heart, the one true person who could satisfy her need.
The qualities that she possessed in which Jesus would never turn away was that she was interceding on behalf of another person, and she went to Him with the right attitude of faith. She approached Him and cried out for mercy. "O Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
