Samson, the Player

“The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said, “You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son. Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean. You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.” (Judges 13:3-5 NIV).

Good morning, God’s beautiful people. Its a fantastic and fabulous Friday morning and we praise and thank God for allowing us to see it. Many didn’t wake up this morning, but we are one of the few who did, so let’s do the will of the Father today. Amen!

Samson was a player, he was a every man’s nightmare, and every woman’s dream. He was smart, strong, handsome, confident, and anointed, and he rose to be the leader of Israel for 20 years. Yet despite all this, he had one weakness and that was women.

The story goes that an angel of the Lord appeared to Samson’s mother and told her that when he is born, he would be dedicated to God from the womb. He would be a Nazirite, meaning that he would have to follow the laws from God, but he failed.

This leads me to say, if a man like Samson can end up in the hall of Faith (Hebrews 11), then the door is open for you and me. We fail time after time obeying the commandments of God, yet he still welcomes us in. We have faults just like Samson did, but we must look to God so that He can fulfil His purpose in our lives.

My friend, you may be blind and defeated, but your later days can be greater than the past. Look to God during all your mess, and call upon Him to restore the purpose you were made to fulfil.

Father God, we thank You. Even though we fail time after time, You still welcome us. Help us to look beyond what is in front of us, and that is the cross. We must deny ourselves on a daily basis, pick up our cross and follow Jesus. It is in His Holy name that we pray. Amen!
