"But Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:29 TLB).
Our chief authority is not just some king, He is THE KING and we are obligated to listen and obey Him. Believers are sometimes put in a spot where they may be forbidden to speak for the Lord. They are sometimes placed in situations where false doctrines are being taught causing others to be misled. We have an obligation to God and to speak out against such things.
When we try to do what pleases God we are met with opposition or criticism, but we must stand firm because our desire should be to please God and not man. When opposition confronts you ask God to guide you by His Word, because the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
Remember, God WILL give you the desires of your heart when you ask Him!
