The Blessings of an Answered Prayer

I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, and have not let my foes rejoice over me" (Psalm 30:1-2 NKJV).
When I looked up the word "extol" I found many definitions. One meant to praise enthusiastically. I found another that says to praise highly. While another says to praise with your heart and soul.
Charles Spurgeon notes that God is the best Physician for the infirmities of our bodies. Not with just the hurting through pain, but for the damage that sin does to it. But sometimes (and I speak of myself), we forget to praise God for the things that He has done in our lives. The things that He had brought us out of, and the things that He has protected us from.
The psalmist writes “His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” (V. 5). Which means that even though He has chastened us for the wrongs that we have done, we should take pleasure in it, because it is to help us to grow closer to Him as a loving and caring Father who wants the best for us. It goes on to say, that yes you may be in pain right now, or you may be going through a period of suffering, tomorrow is a new day and with it comes joy.
Father, thank You for mercy that You have upon us. We praise You with all joy and excitement from the bottom of our hearts. It is in the wonderful name of Jesus that we pray. Amen!
