When Life Knocks You Down

"Truly God is good to Israel, to such as are pure in heart. But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the boastful, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.” (Psalm 73:1-3 NKJV).

Asaph was struggling with the suffering of God’s people and the good fortune of the wicked. He saw these things with his very own eyes, yet he was determined to stand upon the Word of God, because in his heart he knew the goodness of God and how He provides for those who are His people.

Truly is the most in important word in these verses as its meaning is defined as in all sincerity, indeed or without question. I am quite sure that we can become envious of what we see from those who are far from God. We kind of feel some type of way when we see the family down the street who never goes to church or praise God in any way, shape of form receive blessing after blessing, yet we receive nothing, and most of the time we struggle to make ends meet. But “truly” God is good to us, He is good to those whom loves Him, and He will make a way for us all.

Regardless of how things may look, God’s Word is true, but Satan wants to trick you and make you think that all that you are doing is a waste of time. He wants to promise you the world with his lies and deceit. He wants you to give up on God and follow and serve him. But like Asaph, we must not let our feet slip, lest we stumble and fall into his trap, we must remain strong and stand firm on the Word of God.

One Love,
